At Ear Science Centre, this year marks a deeply meaningful milestone—10 years of transforming lives through cochlear implant care. What began as a clinical mission has evolved into a movement rooted in hope, inclusion, and equal opportunity for children with hearing loss.
To commemorate this decade-long journey, we brought together our cochlear-implanted children and their families—not as patients, but as confident individuals with stories, voices, and dreams of their own.
Celebrating Ability, Confidence, and Belonging
The celebration was designed with one clear intention: to give children a stage of their own.
Our cochlear-implanted children showcased their talents through:
- Dance performances
- Speech and expressive activities
- Confident social interaction
Each performance was a testament to what is possible with early intervention, advanced hearing technology, and consistent auditory habilitation.
We were honoured by the presence of renowned doctors, professionals, and respected members of society, but the true highlight was watching children with hearing loss stand tall—integrated, expressive, and proud.
This event was not just a celebration.
It was a statement.
Our Core Belief: Removing Barriers, Not Just Treating Hearing Loss
At the heart of everything we do lies a simple but powerful vision:
- To remove barriers
- To remove segregation
- To integrate children with hearing loss into mainstream society
Hearing care is not only about sound—it is about dignity, confidence, and inclusion.

Where It All Began: A Journey Born from Frustration and Resolve
Ten years ago, this journey began not with certainty—but with frustration.
As an audiologist and speech-language pathologist, I had:
The clinical expertise
Proven cochlear implant outcomes
Access to life-changing technology
Yet, time and again, we faced a harsh reality—financial constraints prevented families from accessing cochlear implants for their children.
I was not wealthy enough to support every child who needed help. That helplessness led me to take an unconventional step.
Out of sheer determination, I reached out to Mr. Ratan Tata, explaining that while the science was sound, finances were the single greatest barrier standing between children and a life with sound.
In a moment that continues to inspire us, he obliged.
That support did not just help one child.
It ignited a movement.
10 Years Later: Lives Changed, Futures Rewritten
Over the past decade, with the support of:
- Funding organisations
- Well-wishers and donors
- Medical and therapy professionals
- we have helped more than 70 children access cochlear implants and long-term habilitation.
- Watching these children today—
- Speaking confidently
- Dancing freely
- Engaging socially
- was profoundly moving.
What This Milestone Means
For children: Confidence, self-belief, and independence
For parents: Pride, reassurance, and hope
For professionals: Proof that early intervention works
This decade reaffirms one truth:
With the right technology, therapy, and support—children with hearing loss can thrive.
Looking Ahead: Launch of ESOF – Ear Science Outreach Foundation
As part of this milestone celebration, we proudly launched ESOF – Ear Science Outreach Foundation.
ESOF represents our commitment to the future.
What ESOF Stands For
- Support beyond cochlear implant surgery
- Access to therapy, education, and long-term care
- Sustainable solutions for families of children with hearing loss
- Because hearing care does not end with surgery.
And true inclusion does not end with access.

A Collective Journey of Science, Compassion, and Social Responsibility
These ten years have taught us one invaluable lesson:
When science, compassion, and social responsibility come together—lives change.
This milestone does not belong to Ear Science Centre alone.
It belongs to:
- Every child who learned to listen
- Every parent who dared to hope
- Every professional who stood beside us
- Every organisation that believed in inclusion
Here’s to the last 10 years—
and to many more years of sound, dignity, and belonging.
